Most beautiful coastal towns of North Holland
North Holland – including Texel – has more than 100 kilometers of beautiful sandy beaches and dozens of beautiful coastal towns. Zandvoort is perhaps the most famous and is one of the few Dutch seaside resorts to have its own train station. But if you ask us what the most beautiful seaside resorts in North Holland are, we know. These are Schoorl, Bergen and Egmond aan Zee. All three places are within cycling distance of Boerderij de Fryhof. But we are happy to give you three good, objective reasons for each seaside resort why these are the most beautiful coastal towns in North Holland.
1. Bergen
Always cosy
Bergen is alive all year round. Covered terraces, excellent catering and many cozy shops always make a visit to Bergen a party.
Art to kiss and approve
Bergen is an artists’ village. The artists of the Bergen school made beautiful paintings, some of which can be admired in Museum Kranenburgh. The ‘Bergense art ten days’ (in October) is a household name!
Also by the sea
From Bergen you can cycle through the dunes to Bergen aan Zee within 15 minutes. Enjoy the lovely beach from one of the trendy beach bars!
2. Schoorl
The most beautiful dunes
Schoorl is located in the middle of the most beautiful and widest dune area in our country, ‘De Schoorlse Duinen’. Enjoy the high dunes and beautiful views during a walk. The quiet beach of Schoorl can only be reached via the dunes and by bike or on foot.
Climbing dune
The 51 meter high climbing dune is located in the center of Schoorl. Children do not want to leave here and that is not a problem, because the parents enjoy a drink on the terrace at the foot of the dune.
3. Egmond aan Zee
All in one
Egmond has a cozy village center, a beautiful beach and a beautiful dune area around the village.
Nice beach
The beach at Egmond is wide, clean and never crowded even on a summer day.
Fair
Every Wednesday evening in June, July and August there is plenty of fun in the center during the fair of Egmond. With 150 stalls it is difficult not to come home with something nice.
